To give delegates a raised awareness and understanding of health hazards involved with dust created by construction activities.

Those whose work involves routinely creating dust through activities such as cutting, ripping, boring or sanding.
Course content
- Types of dust created by construction activities
- The effects of the dusts on the human body
- Who can be harmed, and how long it can take to affect the human body
- Control measures to take in order to reduce the risk
- Practical advice on RPE, including face fit tests and full-face respirators
- Optional face fit test (delegates must be clean shaven for this option)
Certification
Delegates successfully completing the course will receive a Frameworks Certificate of Training.
Frequently asked questions
Why is dust awareness important on site?
Construction dust is a major cause of long-term occupational lung disease. Silica, wood and other site dusts have legal exposure limits, and contractors are increasingly required to evidence dust controls.
Is face fit testing included?
Yes, optional face fit testing is available with the course. Delegates must be clean shaven to be face-fitted.
How long is the course?
Half a day, at our Salford training centre or on your site.
Does it cover silica specifically?
Yes. Respirable crystalline silica is one of the main hazards covered, along with wood dust and other common site dusts.
Is RPE selection covered?
Yes. We cover Respiratory Protective Equipment selection, fit testing principles and correct use, including full-face respirators.
