Frequently asked questions
How long is the course?
Half a day, with a practical element. Delivered at our Salford training centre or on your site if you have suitable equipment.
Is this the same as Working at Height?
No. Working at Height is the general regulations course. Safe Use of Harness is the practical PPE course covering lanyards, harnesses, fall arrest and inspection. They complement each other and many sites want both.
Do I need to bring my own harness?
Not necessarily, but it can help to train with your own kit. Let us know in advance.
How long does the certificate last?
We recommend refresher training annually, in line with PPE inspection cycles.
Is this enough for high-risk specialist work?
It's the awareness and practical foundation. Specialist roles (rope access, IRATA, etc.) need additional qualifications.
